My books have a lot different underlying topics in them, although you may have to read between the lines to get some of them, but I think that's what good books are made of! My books can have a lot of silliness in them when it comes to the way a few of my characters interact. Some of the themes are a little mature for some rreaders tastes though, and (sorry!) I'm one of those authors that likes to touch lightly upon the subjects of religion at times. For example, at one point in the first book Artemis starts ranting about the injustices of the witch-trails in Salem, and although this may seem tolerable, he actually starts to point fingers at Christianity in and of itself, which may get on some peoples bad side, but I think that's the point, really: to show people the hard and cruel facts of injustices so that they will strive to change it. I mean, Artemis is a witch, but what most people don't know is that a 'witch' is another name for someone who is a folower of the religion of Wicca. Most people would just say that the witch trials were a bunch of people trying people for being something that doesn't exist. "Witches aren't real" one might say. Really? Then...what is your definition of a "witch"? And what is a witch's definition of a Christian? Had anyone even TRIED to see things from the witches point of view?
This is the type of material that my books will touch upon from time to time. I truly hope that people will be able to take away much more than an engaging plot from my books... I'll talk more about some other scenes later, but for now-- chao!
